The former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday, January 30 (10th century).

Imran Khan was sentenced in Adiala Jail, where he has been held since his arrest in August. Imran Khan has said that the purpose of countless court cases against him is to prevent him from returning to power.
The same punishment has been given to his Tehreek-e-Insaf Party deputy Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who was the foreign minister in Imran Khan’s government.
A spokesman for the party told AFP: “Former Prime Minister Imran Khan and Tehreek-e-Insaf Deputy Qureshi have each been sentenced to 10 years in prison.”
Government media have also reported their conviction and sentence.
The case against the two men is related to allegations that they leaked classified government documents.
Imran Khan served as Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022, and was ousted in a vote of no confidence after losing the support of the military.
As opposition leader, he has launched an unprecedented campaign of dissent against senior officials, accusing officials of ousting him in a US-backed conspiracy and plotting to assassinate him. Because of which he was injured.
Imran Khan was briefly arrested in May. The government used the violent demonstrations in response to his arrest to justify putting pressure on Tehreek-e-Insaf, as a result of which many of the party’s senior leaders have fled or are living in hiding.
Human rights activist and political analyst Taseef Ahmad Khan said, “This is an assassination of justice… but his popularity among the people will increase rapidly as sympathy for him will increase due to this brutal act of cruelty.” Be.”
