Pakistani security officials say they have arrested the man who is suspected of having filmed the killing of his sister by his brother.

In the latest case of honor killing, 22-year-old Maria Bibi was killed on March 17 by her brother Mohammad Faisal in the presence of her father Abdul Sattar at her home in Toba Tek Singh town of Punjab.

His other brother Shahbaz filmed the incident.

In the video, which has been widely shared on social media, Faisal is shown putting his sister on the couch and grabbing her by the throat, and after Maria’s death, her father gives her a bottle of water to drink.

The family members buried Maria’s body immediately, but after receiving information about the case, the police filed a complaint on March 24 and then Maria’s grave was opened. His collarbone was broken.

Local police officer Attaullah said that Maria’s father Abdul Sattar and Faisal were arrested immediately, but Shahbaz was arrested on Saturday.

Some media said that Faisal and Sattar have confessed to their crimes. Faisal alleged that several times he had seen his sister talking to an unknown man through video.

Shehbaz’s wife is also seen in this video and the police have also arrested her.

In Pakistan every year hundreds of women are killed by men in the name of defending their honor.

According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, in 2022, 316 crimes related to the defense of honor have been registered in this country, but most of the cases remain hidden due to the fear of infamy and to save the lives of the murderers.
