Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (69) from Nigeria will be reappointed as Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO). The four-year term begins on September 1 of the following year.
AFP and Reuters reported on the 29th that she, who became the first woman and African to serve as Secretary-General of the World Trade Organization in 2021, will continue for the next term. He entered Harvard University in 1973, majoring in economics, and received a doctorate in regional development economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1981. I became a U.S. citizen in 2019, and my husband is a neurosurgeon practicing in Washington. He worked at the World Bank (WB) for 25 years and rose to the position of ‘Number 2’ (Vice President). She then returned to Nigeria and served as the first female finance minister from 2003 to 2006. In February 2021, by agreement of 164 member countries, he was appointed to the position of Secretary-General for a four-year term.
