Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahuissued the latest warning to Iran. Netanyahu reminded Iran that there is no region in the Middle East that is not covered by the Israeli military.
Netanyahu’s statement was delivered on Monday (29/9) local time in English. Netanyahu said the current Iranian government is bringing its people closer to the abyss.
“As time goes by, this regime is bringing you – the noble Persian people – closer to the brink of destruction,” Netanyahu was quoted as saying AFPTuesday (1/10/2024).
Netanyahu also said there was no place in the Middle East that Israel could not reach. This threatening statement was made several days after the death of Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah, in Lebanon on Friday (29/9)
“There is no place in the Middle East that Israel cannot reach,” Netanyahu said.
“Don’t let a small group of theocrats destroy your hopes and dreams,” he continued.
In the last few days, the Israeli military has intensively launched air strikes in Lebanese territory. The attack on Friday (29/9) last week in the Beirut area even succeeded in killing Hassan Nasrullah, the leader of Hezbollah.
In his video statement, Netanyahu expressed hope for a future “when Iran is finally free”, and said it would “happen much sooner than people think”.
“Things will be different,” he said.
“Our two countries, Israel and Iran, will live in peace. Iran will develop more rapidly than before,” continued Netanyahu.
Comment Netanyahu came hours after Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said his country had no plans to send its fighters to face Israel directly.
“There is no need to send additional troops or volunteers from the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani.
Iran assesses that Lebanon and fighters in the Palestinian territories have the capability and strength to defend themselves against aggression.
Earlier on Monday (30/9), Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian visited Hezbollah’s office in Tehran. The visit was to pay tribute to Nasrallah.
Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had previously vowed that Nasrallah’s death would not be in vain. Khamenei said Israel was too weak to cause significant damage to Hezbollah’s stronghold in Lebanon.
“Lebanon will make its evil aggressors and enemies regret it,” he said.
