Neighboring country Pakistan is going to launch its own messaging app in place of instant messaging app WhatsApp. This app has been named Beep Pakistan and in the initial stage it has been designed for government employees. Later it is planned to release it widely. It has been launched by the IT Ministry of Pakistan. The government says that the goal of this app is to reduce cyber attacks. It also aims to ensure that the private conversations of the users remain completely safe.

The app is ready and its trial is currently underway. IT Ministry officials are calling it more secure than the foreign WhatsApp. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecommunications Shaja Fatima Khawaja has said that the design of Beep Pakistan is very strong and it can later be made available to the general public as well.

He said that the government will release this app for the use of government employees within the next 45 days. Let us tell you that earlier it was named WhatsApp Killer but later the government distanced itself from such comparison and it was named Beep Pakistan. According to the government, all the data of the Beep Pakistan app will be stored in a local server in Pakistan. This will eliminate the risk of audio and video leaks.

According to officials, the biggest feature of this app is that it is 100 percent safe but common Pakistanis are scared of it. They are afraid that if this app is released for the common man, then the privacy of the people can be in danger and people sitting in the government can get personal information and misuse it. Digital rights advocates suspect that the Pakistan government can use Beep Pakistan to suppress the voice of dissent and crush the rights of freedom of speech because the army in Pakistan is very strong and powerful.

Let us tell you that the plan to develop the Beep Pakistan app in Pakistan was made after the incident of December 2019, when Pakistani officials were made victims of the spying software Pegasus. Since then, concerns were raised about the security of WhatsApp. Audio and video calling facility has also been provided in the Beep Pakistan chat app. Features like document sharing with captions, end to end encryption and instant messaging have also been provided.
