Former Union Minister and BJP MP Anurag Thakur on Thursday strongly hit back at the Congress over the caste dispute. Referring to former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, he targeted Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and claimed that if the feudal-minded Congress had not obstructed the way of Mandal and Kaka Kalelkar’s report, the situation would have been different today. Anurag Thakur said that Nehru had written a letter to his Chief Ministers in opposition to reservation, while Rajiv Gandhi openly opposed the Mandal Commission report.

BJP MP Anurag Thakur said, “Truth cannot be harmed. My speech has deeply hurt the sense of entitlement of some people, as a result of which the whole public has started shouting and screaming. They think that only they have the right to ask questions because they are privileged. These are the same people whose ancestors used to call the backward, Dalits and deprived people of the country fools. Those who have been enjoying the cream of legacy till date, today as soon as the question turned sour in their mouth, they are making a laughing stock of themselves by telling lies. Moments committed a mistake, centuries got the punishment.

While talking to news agency ANI, the BJP MP said, “Those who used to call others idiots, today their own houses are full of intellectuals. These are the same people who used to think how can a Dalit person stand in front of them wearing a coat-pant and write the Constitution.” Referring to former PM Rajiv Gandhi, Anurag Thakur said that Rajiv Gandhi had said that he will not promote intelligence in the name of reservation. The highly intelligent son of the former Prime Minister will tell this country whether the backward class was an idiot in the eyes of his father? Will the Congress condemn a very disgusting casteist statement made by Rajiv Gandhi or will a resolution be passed against him?

He further said, “Since 1947, Congress along with its ideological courtiers has been adopting all kinds of tactics to exclude Dalits and deprived society from the mainstream. When Jawaharlal Nehru was asked why reservation was not being given to Dalits and tribals, he made the excuse that giving reservation would fill their minds with inferiority complex. Nehru had even written a letter to his chief ministers and told them that he was against any kind of reservation. Indira Gandhi also had the same policy. The report of the Mandal Commission also kept waiting for implementation. Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi did not allow this report to be implemented for ten years.”

‘Rajiv was against the Mandal Commission report’

The former Union Minister also said that Rajiv Gandhi openly opposed the implementation of the Mandal Commission report. Even when Kaka Kalelkar’s report came, the Congress kept it hidden for years. The backward, tribal and Dalit community in the country has doubts about Rahul Gandhi’s intentions, because he is the head of the same family and party, which has opposed reservation by breaking all limits till date. When feudalists pretend to be socialists, they are very dangerous. Congress abused and insulted the backward class in the name of Modi ji.
