[Ta Kung Pao News]According to Reuters and AFP reports: NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg said on the 14th that the defense ministers of NATO member states approved a plan for NATO to coordinate military assistance and training for Ukraine. However, NATO’s request for allies to provide at least 40 billion euros in aid to Ukraine each year did not reach a consensus.

The NATO Defense Ministers’ Meeting was held in Brussels from the 13th to the 14th. Stoltenberg said at a press conference after the meeting that the plan may be officially launched at the NATO Washington Summit in July. According to the plan, NATO will set up an agency at the US military base in Wiesbaden, western Germany, with 700 staff members to coordinate the donation, transportation and maintenance of military equipment aided to Ukraine, as well as the training of Ukrainian military personnel.

Dutch Defense Minister Olungren, who attended the meeting, pointed out on the 14th that considering that the Russia-Ukraine war may last for several years, aid to Ukraine “cannot rely on certain countries or certain people” but should be an effective plan.

It is reported that the current military aid to Ukraine is mainly provided by the “International Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense” led by the United States. Western countries are worried that if Trump wins the US election in November, it will affect military aid to Ukraine. The passage of the above plan will help NATO play a more direct role in military aid to Ukraine.
