“Omusubi” week 1 “Omusubi and Gal” review
April 2004, Itoshima, Fukuoka Prefecture. When Yui entered Itoshima Higashi High School, she looked in the mirror and tried through trial and error to figure out how to wear the school uniform. Her father, Saint (Yukiya Kitamura), is worried about his daughter, who has not been able to finish her preparations. Her grandfather, Eikichi (Ken Matsudaira), provokes her by saying that she might come down to school in “gal fashion” like her sister Ayumu (Riisa Naka), and they get into a little argument, and Yui appears at the dinner table wearing a high school uniform. I showed it. His grandmother Kayo (Yoshiko Miyazaki) praises his appearance, calling it “cute.” When Eikichi looks back on Ayumu’s time at school, Yui says that there’s no way she would do something like that and that being a gal these days is outdated.
When Yui enters the classroom, Emi Miyazaki (Morisato Nakamura), who has the same amulet, calls out to her. Yui becomes Emi’s “friend number 1″ who has just moved to Itoshima. One of her classmates is her childhood friend Koga Yota (Sugou Shinki), and Yota points to the name “Yoneda Yui” and introduces Emi that Yui’s nickname is “Omusubi” because it comes from “Kome” and “Musubu”. Furthermore, when Yota blurts out, “Everyone calls me Ayu’s little sister…” Yui panics and warns him, “She doesn’t know what a big sister is. Don’t say anything unnecessary.” Later, during homeroom, Yui’s homeroom teacher Matsubara Tamotsu (Hasegawa Shinobu) saw Yui’s name and was surprised, saying, “Oh, it’s you. You’re Ayumu Yoneda’s younger sister.” I introduced this.
