The Japan Student Baseball Association has extended the suspension of the baseball team coach of Morioka Seika High School (Morioka, Iwate) for another two years, from September 6th, for allegedly using violent and abusive language against team members.

Regarding the baseball team at Morioka Seika High School, there have been suspected cases of drinking by a third-year student who retired after August 2023 and abusive language by a coach, and the Japan High School Baseball Federation has repeatedly requested the high school to investigate and report.

However, the high school did not comply, and the Japan Student Baseball Association, the governing body of student baseball, took disciplinary action against the four people involved in May 2024 and suspended the principal and baseball team coach until September 6th.

In June, the high school submitted an investigation report to the Japan High School Baseball Federation, which then submitted it to the Student Baseball Association’s review office.

As a result of the investigation, the coach’s suspension was extended for an additional two years from the original disciplinary period due to violence and verbal abuse against team members and false reports, and the then vice-director, who has since retired, was suspended indefinitely.

Morioka Seika High School’s baseball team is eligible to participate in the summer prefectural tournament in July, and in an interview with Iwate Menkoi TV, the school stated, “Ahead of the summer tournament, our top priority right now will be baseball club activities.”
