The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that Minister Park Sang-woo met with Kazakh Minister of Transportation Marat Karabayev at the Land Development Exhibition Hall on the 30th and discussed urban air transportation (UAM) policies.
This meeting was arranged at the request of the Minister of Transportation of Kazakhstan, who visited Korea to attend the ‘K-UAM Confax’ held at the Paradise City Hotel in Yeongjongdo until the 1st of next month.
Kazakhstan has selected high-tech innovative industries, including UAM, as a national project and is pursuing projects. This is to establish itself as an innovation hub in Central Asia.
Minister Park introduced the government’s future mobility projects to Minister Marat, focusing on the K-UAM Grand Challenge demonstration project and the Urban Air Traffic Act. The K-UAM Grand Challenge is a joint aesthetics demonstration project that verifies aircraft safety and technology with the goal of commercializing UAM domestically. The first phase of the three-week demonstration project was successfully completed this month.
He also asked for national level interest in allowing Korean companies to participate in energy-related plant and transportation infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan.
Minister Park said, “According to the summit joint statement issued following the President’s state visit to Kazakhstan last June, exchanges in politics and economics are expanding,” adding, “I find it meaningful that we can also discuss future mobility, including UAM.” said.
