Jakarta –
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said that development in the transportation sector over the past 10 years has faced various challenges. The pandemic situation that occurred certainly made various parties vigilant but did not dampen the struggle to be more active in carrying out development.
In the span of 10 years, Budi Karya explained that his party had carried out development and rehabilitation of a number of air, sea, and land transportation sectors. In terms of numbers, he explained that the Ministry of Transportation had rehabilitated hundreds of ports spread throughout Indonesia, built dozens of airports, and made double tracks for train transportation modes.
“The revival is that we are building 45 National Strategic Projects (PSN), 193 rehabilitation developments of ports in the northern tip of Indonesia, the southern tip, the western tip, and the eastern tip. We are building 91 airports and building more than 25 airports, building 157 terminals throughout Indonesia and 80 railway programs,” said Budi Karya on the sidelines of the Hub Space 2024 activity at JIExpo, Jakarta, recently.
“Railway services are improving because we are building double tracks, building double-double track tracks around Jabodetabek,” he continued.
He said the development made the travel distance between regions faster. So that the mobility of residents is also helped.
“So on the one hand, Jakarta-Surabaya which used to take 10 hours is now 8 hours. Jakarta-Solo which used to take 8 hours is now 6 hours. This has become a tendency for people to use train transportation as an alternative,” he said.
For information, the Hub Space event supported by PT Pelabuhan Tiga Bersaudara is a collaboration between the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation and detikcom, in order to commemorate National Transportation Day 2024, with the theme ‘Integrated Mobility for All’. This event also aims to introduce integrated transportation that supports community mobility effectively and efficiently.
