Security officials in Pakistan said today, Monday, October 14 (Tale 23), that militants attacked the funeral ceremony of a slain Pakistani policeman and killed three policemen.
The attack took place in the Banu region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The health minister of this state, Pashtunyar Khan, said that the attack took place on Sunday night.
He told AFP that the attackers surrounded the police station. He added that three militants and three policemen were killed in the exchange of fire at the center’s gate.
Pashtunyar Khan also said that two or three attackers have entered the center and “fierce shooting” is going on there.
Voice of America’s Deva Department has written with reference to security sources that between five and six armed men attacked this center and a civilian was also killed in this attack.
Eyewitnesses have said that they also heard the sounds of heavy explosions in the police station.
The Pakistani Taliban movement has claimed in a statement that they carried out this attack.
This attack takes place at a time when the two-day summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is scheduled to begin in Islamabad on Tuesday. The government of Pakistan has taken strict security measures for this meeting.
A few days before this meeting, two Chinese engineers were killed in an attack in Karachi. In another incident, militants killed 20 miners in Balochistan.
