Starring frontman Kylian Mbappe’s debut goal helped Real Madrid beat Atalanta 2-0 to win the UEFA Super Cup.

The match is played between the teams that won the Champions League (Real Madrid) and Europa League (Atalanta) last season. This year this match had gained special importance. It was Mbappe’s first match for Real Madrid, considered one of the best footballers in the world. He did not have to wait long to open his scoring account. He scored in the 68th minute to seal Real’s victory.

Before that, the Italian team Atalanta gave a tough fight to the powerful Spanish team Real. Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham and Rodrigo were all eyes on Real’s attackers. However, since they were playing together for the first time, it took time for them to get along. Atalanta held off Real in the first half. Therefore, the two teams were tied goalless at the interval.

In the second half, however, Real’s attack gained an edge. In the 59th minute, Federico Valverde scored a pass from Vinicius to give Real a 1-0 lead. After that, Real kept the pressure on Atalanta’s defense. They got the advantage in the 68th minute. First Rodrigo took the ball from an Atalanta defender and passed it to Vinicius. Vinicius handed the ball to Bellingham. Then Mbappe scored a stunning goal from Bellingham’s pass to strengthen Real’s lead.

Atlanta then attempted a comeback. However, they could not penetrate the strong defense of Rayal. Ademola Lookman, who scored a hat-trick in the Europa League final, did not get much support from Atalanta’s other attackers. So Real won their first match of the new season and won the Super Cup.
