A group of unidentified gunmen opened fire on the vehicles of Maulana Fazal Rehman, the leader of Hizb Jamiat Ulema Islam Pakistan, in the province of Khyber Pashtun, but no members of his party were injured in this attack.

Maulana Jalil Khan, the spokesperson of Hizb Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, told reporters on Sunday, December 31 (10 Jadi) that when Maulana Fazal Rehman’s convoy was moving to Dera Ismail Khan, it stopped in a field park near Sepik Road.

And Pakistani media said that there was a convoy of 10 to 15 vehicles.

So far, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for this attack, but earlier, most of the similar attacks were carried out on the leaders and activists of Hizb Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, the Khorasan branch of the Islamic State or Daesh.

This attack on Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman took place after the Pakistani media, the Ministry of Interior, warned of possible terrorist attacks on Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman and Amil Wali Khan, the state president of Hizb Milli Awami Pakistan.

According to the reports, the Ministry of Interior of Pakistan said that the two political leaders said that the Afghan terrorists had planned an attack against them.

Aslam Ghori, the spokesman of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Party, called the attack on the convoy of the party’s leader cowardly and demanded an immediate investigation into the matter.

Leaders of various Pakistani parties have condemned the attack and considered it a move to disrupt the election process.

Amir Wali Khan, the state chairman of Hizb Milli Awami, expressed his regret over the attack and said that such incidents before the elections indicate that the terrorists are reorganizing.

This attack took place when Pakistan’s parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held on February 8. Hizb Maulana Fazal Rehman has formed an electoral alliance with Hizb Muslim League led by Nawaz Sharif, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Maulana Fazl-ur-Rahman has been the target of various attacks, including suicide attacks, but his life is safe.
