Eastern, the leader in the field of spices, is about to make its presence in ready-to-cook dishes as well. As a part of this, wheat and dal payasakoots have been introduced in the market to add sweetness to Onam.
This is in addition to the Semiya and Palada Payasakuts currently available in the Maduram Payasakut category. Maduram Payasakoots are instant hits of Eastern. A 200 gram packet is priced at Rs 75. Samiya and Palada are priced at Rs 85. CMO Manoj Lalwani said that different products are going to be introduced in the ready to cook category. He added that as more Malayalis migrate to foreign countries, they are preparing to be more active in the export sector to provide them with the spices and other resources they need. Manoj informed that currently 55 percent of the market share of spices in the Gulf countries belongs to Eastern. Besides Kerala, Manoj Lalwani stated that regional delicacies of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh will also be brought to the market.
Established in 1983, Eastern is one of the leading companies in the Indian spice market. Eastern has introduced a wide range of products like spices, spice mixes, rice powders, coffee, pickles, breakfast mixes and traditional Kerala sweets in the market. Norwegian company Orkla acquired Eastern in 2021 through its Indian subsidiary MTR Foods.
