London ∙ The first resignation from the UK Labor cabinet. Transport Minister Louise Haig (37) resigned. Kier Stammer is the Transport Secretary in the Cabinet and since 2015 the MP for the Sheffield Heale parliamentary constituency. Louise Haig resigned as transport secretary in 2013 after pleading guilty to a criminal charge relating to falsely telling police that a work mobile phone had been stolen.
In any case, the news of the resignation of the minister for telling a lie a long time ago became viral in the UK. In a letter to Prime Minister Kier Stammer after her resignation, Louise Haig said her appointment as the youngest ever female cabinet member was “one of the proudest achievements of her life”. Haig also said that the government and Kier Stammer’s policies will continue to be supported from the outside. Yesterday, Louise Haig admitted that she had told the UK police that she had lost her phone during a night out several years ago. He then resigned as minister this morning. He resigned as a minister but will continue as an MP.
The fact that the mobile phone was found to be missing was deliberately concealed by the minister. But Louise Haig said she did so after being advised by a lawyer not to disclose the fact that the phone had been returned after she had reported it missing. But after the information came out, the police handed over the case to the Crown Prosecution Service. Although found guilty in the case, the court did not punish Louis Haig. Instead, the case was dismissed as a minor offence. The unexpected resignation of the minister comes when the parliament is going to vote on the bill to legalize euthanasia today.
