LH (Korea Land and Housing Corporation) announced on the 5th that it will be the first to supply ‘Firefighter Hero Housing’ to provide stable housing support to young firefighters who have suffered casualties while protecting the safety of the public.
‘Firefighter Hero Housing’ is a specialized housing where young firefighters who have suffered physical or mental injuries or disabilities while protecting the lives and safety of the public can receive integrated support such as treatment, counseling, and rehabilitation in a stable living environment.
Since the introduction of the presumptive death penalty system in June of last year, public voices have been growing louder demanding improved treatment for firefighters who have suffered disasters while serving the country in hazardous and dangerous environments. Accordingly, LH plans to take the lead in providing housing support for firefighters by utilizing the rental housing it owns.
On the 5th, LH signed a business agreement with the Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters in the conference room of the LH Seoul Regional Headquarters for the stable promotion of the ‘Firefighter Hero Housing’ pilot project.
Through the agreement, LH will supply 10 newly built rental housing units located in Hwayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul at 40-50% of the market price, and the Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters will provide integrated support, including psychological counseling and rehabilitation, to the young firefighters who move in.
The ‘Firefighter Hero House’ is scheduled to conclude its tenant contract in November, and residents will begin moving in sequentially starting in December. An LH official explained, “LH will continue to provide various housing support so that we can contribute to strengthening social respect for individuals’ dedication to the country and society.”
