KOLKATA ∙ The Indian Super League (ISL) will implement legal reforms such as an Indian assistant coach, concussion substitute and a system to appeal wrongful red cards for all clubs from this season. The rule changes are ahead of the new season starting on the 13th.
New reforms Thus:
∙ All teams must have an Indian co-coach. Asian Football Confederation professional license or equivalent qualification is mandatory for them. If the head coach of the team is fired or resigns, he will be the interim coach.
∙ If a player is red carded in a match due to wrong refereeing, the teams have the opportunity to appeal against it. This should be reported to the match commissioner within 2 hours of the end of the match.
The Disciplinary Committee will consider the appeal. However, if the action is for using inappropriate language, the appeal will not be considered.
∙ Every team may field a concussion substitute if necessary in addition to other substitutions. This is allowed if the player has a head injury and is unable to continue playing.
The opposing team of the team fielding the concussion substitute shall also be allowed one additional substitution.
