“Encounter is a Drama!?” (Jump Comics Volume 28)

This time, we will be bringing you the story of how Ryousan is forced into an arranged marriage meeting by Director Ohara.

The manager takes Ryo-san to a marriage consultation center to find him a matchmaking partner. After inputting Ryo-san’s details and requests into a computer, the candidates that come up are…!?

The mechanical depiction of the magic that allows computers to do anything gives it a Showa-era manga feel and is quite interesting (this work was first published in 1981).

If a story about matchmaking were to be written in Kochikame today, it’s likely that shady matchmaking agencies and fraudulent matchmaking apps would make an appearance. The story of a matchmaking session between two extremely passionate people who are passionate about their niche hobbies was written in 2012 in “Collector Matchmaking Chapter” (included in Jump Comics volume 184), which was a step ahead of the recent trend of “otaku matchmaking.”

Incidentally, Ryo-san has also had several matchmaking experiences outside of this film.

You can see this in stories such as “The Love Rhapsody” (included in Volume 21 of Jump Comics), in which he is called upon to attend an arranged marriage meeting by an acquaintance of the department chief, “The Mensore Chapter” (included in Volume 21 of Jump Comics), in which he is supposed to head to Hokkaido for an arranged marriage meeting but for some reason ends up in Okinawa, and “The Lovey-Dovey Couple!?” (included in Volume 48 of Jump Comics), in which he is chosen by a young arranged marriage partner who is 15 years younger than him.

From “The Matchmaking Couple!?” He goes to a matchmaking meeting with a checkered tan and an inverted mohawk hairstyle! After that, he beats up the thugs who have been bothering him many times!!

So, please enjoy the matchmaking commotion of Ryo-san on the next page!!
