Naples, Florida – The final tournament of the US Women’s Golf PGA Tour, the CME Group Tour Championship 2022, was held on the 20th at the Tiburon Golf Club (par 72) in Naples, Florida, with Lydia Ko (New Zealand) winning with a total score of 17 under par and also taking home the Player of the Year award.

In windy conditions, Ko shot 70 to improve by two strokes and beat runner-up Leona Maguire of Ireland, who finished at even par on the final day, to win her first tournament since 2014 and take home the record prize of $2 million.

Ko, who won her 19th US Tour victory, also won the Vare Trophy, which is awarded to the player with the lowest average score for the year, for the second consecutive year. This year, she won the Gainbridge LPGA 2022 in January, just after the start of the season, and then the BMW Ladies Championship 2022 in her hometown of South Korea, and this tournament, making for a complete comeback season.

“This year has been incredible, I really couldn’t ask for more. To win so early in the season and then to win in Korea and then the final tournament,” said Ko, who is planning to get married this offseason. “I can’t imagine anything more. There are so many exciting things happening in my life.”
