Knapped Bundestag election: BSW wants to contest legal inventory – from for Wagenknecht?

Referreport

In the Bundestag election, the alliance Sahra Wagenknecht narrowly failed. In statements before the election, she does not want to be nailed. She plan to contest the Bundestag election result.

The Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht is considering having the result of the Bundestag election legally checked.

This was announced by the party leader Sahra Wagenknecht and Amira Mohamed Ali in Berlin. Wagenknecht referred to 230,000 registered German voters abroad. The co-chair Mohamed Ali said: “We will now have the matter checked legally.”

Due to the short deadlines before the early choice, many could not have given up their voice, said the BSW initiator. In view of the extremely tight election result, in which the BSW would have lacked around 13,400 votes for the move into the Bundestag, “the question of the legal inventory of the election result arises,” said Wagenknecht.

BSW founder Sahra Wagenknecht also does not decide for the time being whether she remains at the head of her young party. This will now be discussed in the committees, said Wagenknecht in Berlin. If there is a result, this will be communicated.

Upon request, she expressly did not want to say whether she withdraws. “I know that you would like to hear that now, and that’s why I will not do this favor now.” In any case, the BSW will continue as a party. The very scarce failure at the five percent hurdle has a bitter aftertaste. This “will not end the BSW as a successful party project”.

Before the election, other statements by Wagenknecht

The alliance Sahra Wagenknecht had missed the move into parliament in the Bundestag election with 4.97 percent of the second votes. Before the election, Wagenknecht said: “The choice is of course also the decision about my political future. If you are not in the Bundestag, you are no longer a relevant factor in German politics.”

Wagenknecht left his left after a long dispute in October 2023 and founded the BSW in early 2024.
