North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on May 17 that Kim Yo Jong, vice director of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the younger sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, has denied allegations that North Korea is exporting weapons to Russia.

According to KCNA, Yo Jong said on the 17th that North Korea has no intention of exporting weapons “to any country” and accused the US and South Korean governments of “misleading the public with false rumors that the weapons being manufactured (in North Korea) are ‘for export to Russia.'”

Yojong added, “Our top priority is not to ‘advertise’ or ‘export’ something, but to ensure that our military is combat-ready and has the perfect war deterrent capability in terms of both quality and quantity.”

South Korea claimed in March that North Korea had sent 7,000 containers of weapons to Russia since July last year. (c)AFP
