Khamenei to Islamic countries: Temporarily cut political ties with Israel

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the religious leader of Iran, on Sunday, November 19 (28 Scorpio), asked the Islamic countries that have political relations with Israel to cut off their relations with Israel, at least for a “limited period”.

Khamenei had previously called for a ban on the import of food and oil to Israel, but he called the main duty of Islamic countries to deprive Israel of energy and food.

And in his speech, which was published in Iran’s state media, he said: “Many Islamic governments have condemned Israel’s crimes in demonstrations, but some of them have not done so. This is unacceptable.”

Khamenei said that Islamic governments should cut off their political ties with Israel, at least for a limited period of time.

The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain normalized their diplomatic relations with Israel in 2020, and before the Hamas attack, the Saudi Arabian authorities also wanted to normalize diplomatic relations with Israel, but after the Israeli attack on Gaza, they postponed this process.

A source told AFP news agency that Saudi Arabia has stopped negotiations to normalize relations with Israel after the start of the Israeli army’s attacks on the Gaza Strip and setting a deadline for the residents of this area to leave.

Saudi Arabia never recognized Israel and did not participate in the “Abraham Accords” signed in 2020 by Donald Trump, the former president of the United States. However, other countries in the Persian Gulf, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco, have normalized their relations with Israel.

Mohammed bin Salman, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, has set conditions for the normalization of relations with Israel if the security guarantee is from Washington and the development of the civilian nuclear program is from Riyadh’s conditions.

The religious leader of Iran made these remarks at a meeting held at the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps on the occasion of the achievements of the Kishor Air Force.

In this ceremony, Fatah-2 missile was also displayed, which is said to be the first supersonic missile made by Iran.

Before Khamenei, President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi at the joint meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League countries in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia on November 11, requested many sanctions against Israel, but other countries did not accept this request.

Referring to Israel’s military operation in Gaza Strip, the president asked the Islamic countries to include the Israeli army in the list of terrorist organizations.

The President of Iran also asked the Islamic countries that have ties with Israel to cut ties and increase their support for Palestine.

Israeli officials have said that 1,200 people were killed in the Hamas attack on October 7, while they initially said 1,400 people were killed. They said that after identifying the bodies, it was determined that the other 200 bodies were Hamas extremists. During the attack on Israel, Hamas took about 240 hostages, including foreign nationals.

After the October 7th attack, Israel also carried out air and ground retaliatory attacks on Gaza. According to the Ministry of Public Health, under the control of Hamas, more than 13,000 people have been killed, two-thirds of whom are children and women. But independent sources have not confirmed or denied these figures.
