Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei warned again on Wednesday, April 10 (22) that Israel will attack the Iranian consulate in Damascus and kill seven officers of the Revolutionary Guard, including two generals. Killing “goes unpunished.”
Khamenei said in a televised speech after Eid al-Fitr prayers in the capital Tehran: “This evil regime has made a mistake in this regard, it must be punished and it will be punished.”
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz quickly responded to Khamenei’s comments by publishing a statement in Farsi on X social network.
“If Iran attacks from its territory, Israel will respond and attack Iran,” he said.
Khamenei said the April 1 attack, which destroyed the five-story building of the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital, was a violation of international agreements to protect diplomatic facilities.
He said: “Consulates and embassy offices in any country are the territory of that country. When they attacked our consulate, it means they attacked our territory.”

Along with Khamenei, other senior Iranian officials have also warned of retaliation for this attack, the responsibility of which has been widely blamed on Israel.
A senior adviser to Khamenei, Yahya Rahim Safavi, warned on Sunday that Israeli embassies are “no longer safe.”
Israel said last week it was beefing up its defense forces and delaying furloughs for combat units after threats of Iranian retaliation.
