Former Japan national team forward Kazuyoshi Miura, a 57-year-old veteran who is affectionately known as “Kazu”, has decided to join Atletico Suzuka in the JFL. The club announced on the 25th that he will transfer on loan from J2 Yokohama FC, whose rights he owns. This will be his first return in a year and a half since he played for Suzuka Point Getters in 2022, before the management team was revamped, and he is expected to break his own records as the oldest player to score and appear in the JFL.

In 2022, he made waves by making 18 appearances in the JFL, which is the country’s fourth division, scoring two goals. In February of last year, he moved to Portugal’s second division club Oliveirense on loan. This year, in his 39th year as a professional, he made five appearances without scoring a goal until the end of his second season in May. (Kyodo News)
