Kanpur: Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja achieved a unique record in the second cricket test against Bangladesh. Jadeja reached the 300-wicket club by dismissing Bangladeshi player Khalid Ahmed on the fourth day of the Test, becoming the fastest Indian player to reach 3000 runs and 300 wickets in Tests. Earlier, only legend Kapil Dev and Ravichandra Ashwin could complete this rare double.
Jadeja is second in this regard in international cricket. English legendary all-rounder Ian Botham who scored 3000 runs and 300 wickets in 72 Tests is the first. The Indian player had to play one match more.
Jadeja is also the seventh Indian player to take 300 Test wickets. 17,428 balls had to be bowled to get such a wicket. Ashwin, who reached 300 in 15,636 balls, is ahead in this regard. Anil Kumble (619), Ashwin (524), Kapil Dev (434), Harbhajan Singh (417), Ishant Sharma (311) and Zaheer Khan (311) are the other Indians in the 300-wicket club.
In the India-Bangladesh Test, which was halted several times due to rain, Bangladesh batted first and were out by scoring 233 runs in the first innings. Mominul Haq, who remained unbeaten with 107 runs, rescued the team from a huge slump. Captain Najmul Hussain Shanto (31), Shadman Islam (24) and Mehdi Hasan Miraz (20) performed well. Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets for India while Mohammad Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin and Akash Deep took two each and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket.
In response, India, who are batting, are smashing in Twenty20 style. After 15 overs, they are in a strong position of 130 for two. Yashaswi Jaiswal scored 72 runs in 51 balls including two sixes and 12 fours and Rohit Sharma scored 23 runs in 11 balls including three sixes and one four. Jaiswal was bowled by Hasan Mahmood and Rohit by Mehdi Hasan Miraz. Shubman Gill with 31 runs and Rishabh Pant with two runs are at the crease.
