According to information received, the accident took place after a trolley came in contact with a high-tension line in Sultanpur village late at night. All the Kanwariyas on the trolley were returning from Paheleja with Ganga water and going to Baba Hariharnath temple at Sonepur for Jalabhishek. The deceased include Ravi Kumar, Raja Kumar, Navin Kumar, Amresh Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Chandan Kumar, Kalu Kumar and Ashish Kumar.

A minor child was also among the dead

A minor is also among the victims. In this accident, eight people died on the spot, while another one died during treatment. The condition of one injured is critical and he is undergoing treatment at Hajipur Sadar Hospital. The accident happened due to contact with 11 thousand volt wire. An eyewitness and a resident of the village Madhurendra Kumar said that the trolley was going towards Hariharnath. The accident happened due to short circuit in the 11 thousand volt line. There were many people on the trolley at that time. Eight people died on the spot. All the deceased are said to be from the same village.
