Acceptance according to government guidelines
The transitional housing project “Kai Tak East Residence” located on Muk On Street, Kai Tak was built by “Hing Shing Construction Co., Ltd.” and started construction in December 2022, completed in February this year, and moved in in March; 519 units are provided, with rents ranging from HK$3,800 to HK$5,900. Recently, a district councilor said that he had received help from residents, saying that the units in the project had water pipes and internal walls leaking, the walls were moldy and black, and the floor tiles were cracked.
Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Executive Director Su Youan responded to the leakage incident of “Kai Tak East Residence” at a media tea party yesterday, saying that the relevant acceptance work followed the government’s guidance standards. After moving in, water leakage was found. The property management company and the consulting team immediately found the root cause of the problem and took improvement measures, and found that there was a water pressure problem. He said that about 100 households were affected by the incident, and water pressure regulating devices have been installed and repairs have been carried out one after another. At present, repairs have been completed for about 80 households. The remaining 20 households have not found the owners and are still waiting for time arrangements. It is expected to be completed next month.
As for the problem of water accumulation in the corridor, Su Youan said that because the corridor is an open design, water will accumulate when there is extreme weather or rain. The property management has proactively provided sandbags to the units that are particularly affected, and is now preparing to provide residents with flood barriers and other means to block rainwater without affecting fire safety. He emphasized that when problems arise, they will be open and honest, and urged residents not to delay if they encounter problems, and to contact the management office, property management company, etc. immediately to facilitate follow-up repairs.
