Like heroes, some villains are very popular in Bollywood. Another popular villain from the era of Shakti Kapoor, Prem Chopra was actor Ranjit. Ranjith made an impression on the audience during that time due to his unique style and powerful acting. In a recent interview, he revealed many anecdotes about his behind-the-scenes life and career. In the same interview, he shared a special experience with Sunil Dutt and Nargis.
In an interview on the YouTube channel ‘Timeout with Ankit’, Ranjith said that he met Sunil Dutt for the first time on the second day of his arrival in Mumbai. At that time, Sunil Dutt took Ranjit to his house, where he met his wife, actress Nargis for the first time.

Ranjit said, “Some of Sunil Dutt’s friends came to the house and Nargisji prepared a special dish called ‘Matka Gosht’. I had only been in Mumbai for two days at that time. Food was reheated again and again till two o’clock in the morning. Finally, Nargisji said to us in anger, ‘How much will you drink? The food will not be reheated’, then everyone went inside. But, that night I had the pleasure of meeting so many great personalities.”
Ranjit was quite surprised to see that Nargis herself served the guests during that night. They were really shocked to see such a big star actress working herself for the guests.

“I remember, Sunil Dutt sir gave me mutton. When I told them that I don’t eat meat, they laughed and said, ‘Nargisji made it with her own hands, you must eat it.’ They joked, ‘It’s true you’re a vegetarian, but a goat only eats grass!’”
Star of Mother India served us food
“When I saw Nargisji serving the guests at two o’clock in the morning, I couldn’t believe it. In my head she was the heroine of ‘Mother India’ and I thought she might be resting now, but she was awake, asking the helper to break the pulses and cooking food for everyone herself. I really couldn’t believe that Nargisji gave me paratha!” said Ranjit with a smile.

Actor Ranjith has acted in over 200 films and is known for his villainous roles. Sunil Dutt and Nargis got married in 1958. Nargis was diagnosed with cancer in 1980 and died a year later. A few days later, his son, Sanjay Dutt made his film debut with the film ‘Rocky’. Sunil Dutt passed away in 2005.
