■Paris Olympics™ Judo Men’s 100kg Quarterfinals (1st, Champ de Mars Arena)

In the men’s 100 kg judo competition, Wolf Aaron (28, Park 24) lost to I. Slamanidze (23, Georgia) in the quarterfinals, denying his dream of a consecutive victory and forcing him to play in the repechage.

In the men’s 100kg class, the competition for the representative spot was closely fought until the very end, and Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Wolf Aaron secured a place on the national team and aimed to win the championship for the second time in a row.

In the first round, Wolf faced world No. 21-ranked A. Falla (27, Austria) with a determined look on his face. 16 seconds into the match, he scored a waza-ari with an O-uchi-gari, and at 1 minute and 16 seconds, he scored another with an O-uchi-gari, and won by ippon.

In the second round, world No. 9 J. Fonseca (31, Portugal) started the match with an advantageous position and used his techniques aggressively. Just before the end of the match, he won by ippon with a beautiful Uchimata throw, advancing to the quarterfinals with a perfect victory to become the first Japanese judoist to win this weight class consecutively.

In the quarterfinals, I. Slaminidze (23, Georgia) was in good form, but after he lost a wazari first, he couldn’t land a waz and lost by advantage. He couldn’t win the tournament for the second time in a row and had to go to the losers’ bracket.
