While some sections of the JR Nichinan Line continue to be suspended due to mud flowing into the tracks, an alternative means of transportation, bus transportation, began on the 29th.

The JR Nichinan Line has been suspended between Nango and Shibushi due to mud and sand flowing onto the tracks due to heavy rain a week ago, and there is no prospect of recovery yet.

For this reason, JR Kyushu started bus transportation from the 29th as an alternative means of transportation for the suspended sections.

Bus transportation is available only on weekdays, with a total of 8 buses running up and down each day, and on the 29th, high school students and others were using the bus.

“I was absent from school when the trains weren’t running, so it was nice to have the bus.”
“There are many problems when trains stop, so I thought trains were important. I hope recovery progresses quickly.”

(JR Kyushu Planning and Transportation Division Chief Daishi Katada)
“I realized once again that the bus plays an extremely important role as a means of transportation for people who commute to work or school.I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the bus companies that cooperated in making the bus operate in this way.”

Bus transportation will be available for the time being, and timetables and other information can be found on the JR Kyushu website.
