Japanese school reopens in Suzhou, China, Japanese parents and children stabbed in shuttle bus attack

A school that had been closed following an incident in China in which a shuttle bus for a Japanese school was attacked and Japanese parents and children were stabbed has reopened from today.

The day before yesterday, a shuttle bus for the Suzhou Japanese School in Jiangsu Province, eastern China, was attacked.

According to local authorities and the Japanese Consulate General in Shanghai, a Japanese parent and child were stabbed by a 52-year-old Chinese man while waiting for a school bus.

The man then tried to board a shuttle bus, stabbing a Chinese woman who was a bus attendant trying to stop him. Both the Japanese mother and child are in good health, but the Chinese woman is in critical condition.

Following the incident, the Suzhou Japanese School was closed yesterday, but starting today, students and pupils have resumed attending school, including by bus.

This means that security has been strengthened more than ever before.
