The world rankings for the men’s volleyball team for the Paris Olympics were announced on the 24th, with Japan coming in second. The host country France will be in Group A, world number one Poland in Group B, and Japan in Group C. The remaining teams will be drawn by lottery on the 26th (27th Japan time) based on the world rankings.

The 12 teams that will compete in the Olympics have been decided, with Slovenia, Italy, Argentina, Serbia and Egypt newly qualified based on their world rankings. The United States, Brazil, Canada and Germany, along with Poland and Japan, qualified through last year’s Olympic qualifying tournament. (Kyodo News)
