Due to the effects of Typhoon Faxai, the Tokaido Shinkansen had been suspended or suspended for long periods of time since August 29th, but finally resumed operation on all sections at around 6pm on September 1st. On September 2nd, normal operation resumed from the first train for the first time in four days, and the area around the ticket gates of JR Shin-Osaka Station was crowded with many people.
(Person heading to Kanagawa) “I had planned to go back on Sunday, but (the Shinkansen) was stopped, so I extended my stay and stayed an extra day, and finally I can go back today. I’m relieved.”
(Person travelling to Tokyo) “When all these predictions come true, it’s hard because all sorts of plans get jumbled up. I can now see that the Shinkansen is Japan’s main artery.”
Direct service to Tokyo has also resumed on the Sanyo Shinkansen, returning to its normal schedule for the first time in four days.
