The Shiseido Ladies Tournament of the domestic women’s golf tour kicked off on the 27th at Totsuka CC (6697 yards, par 72) in Kanagawa, and Sakura Koiwai (26), who won last week, finished with 4 birdies and 1 bogey for 3 under par. Koiwai said, “It was a bit of a waste.” Her main comments are as follows:

I had quite a few chances, but I couldn’t get a birdie and it felt like I was getting par all the time, so it was a bit of a waste. But I’m glad I was able to keep my score on the difficult inside course. My putting was good in the first half, but I didn’t quite read the line in the second half. My shots weren’t bad, so… It was cloudy today and pretty cool, so it was easy to play. I don’t like the heat, but I do have a lot of good results (in the summer). It’s tough, but I don’t think it affects my golf that much. (The rough was deeper in the area closer to the fairway) I hit my tee shot, being careful not to curve a little. If you get into the rough, you’ll get flyers (that will fly longer than expected), and if you get into the long rough, you’ll get no distance at all, and both will come up. I have to adapt well.
