Jerusalem: Defense Minister Yoav Galant’s letter to Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu with a warning as the violence continues in Lebanon after Gaza. The secret letter says that Israel’s war strategy lacks a clear direction and needs to be redefined. The information in the letter was released by ‘Channel 13’.
The Jerusalem Post also confirmed this. Gallant sent a secret letter to Netanyahu and the security ministry hours before the airstrikes on Iran. The letter shared major concerns related to national security. Threats to Israel are increasing. Battle objectives are not fast. Gallant pointed out in the letter that this will lead to the violation of cabinet decisions.
Proceeding in the war without clear decisions and renewed objectives affects military action and cabinet decisions. He also indicated that the escalating tension with Iran in particular calls for a re-examination of war aims from multiple perspectives.
Gallant also says that different war tactics should be adopted in each war front. The letter calls for creating a threat-free environment in Gaza and stopping the growth of terrorists. The return of all hostages must be secured. Gallant also suggested that a civilian government model be developed as an alternative to Hamas.
Security should be ensured at the Lebanese border and people should be returned to their homes. Iran must continue its strong defense to avoid escalating the conflict. Gallant’s letter also states that the possibility of violence should be suppressed through anti-terrorist operations in the West Bank. Meanwhile, Netanyahu’s office dismissed Gallant’s concerns.
