While Israel notified the United States that it would enter a limited ground war against the Lebanese armed faction Hezbollah, the United States decided to send thousands of American troops to the Middle East.

Sabrina Singh, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defense, announced this at a regular briefing on the 30th (local time).

The Associated Press announced that if additional troops are deployed, the number of U.S. troops in the Middle East will reach up to 43,000. It is reported that approximately 40,000 people are currently stationed there. The additional troops include U.S. squadrons of F-15E, F-16, F-22 fighter jets, and A-10 attack aircraft, as well as support personnel. The U.S. military decided not to withdraw existing troops but to maintain them and double its air force.

Earlier, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced the day before that the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group’s regional deployment period would be extended. The Associated Press, citing an anonymous government official, reported that “it will be extended by about a month.”

The Harry Truman aircraft carrier strike group, which departed from Virginia for Europe last week, is scheduled to move to the Mediterranean Sea, meaning that two aircraft carrier strike groups will be deployed in the Middle East region.
