Officials in Iraq said today, April 24 (Panj Thor), that during this week at least 11 people who were convicted of committing terrorist acts, including teenagers, were executed.
Meanwhile, Amnesty International condemned the lack of transparency in the implementation of this punishment.
Punishment is punishable and murder is death according to the laws of Iraq.
A security source in the southern province of Dhi Qar, Iraq, told AFP that under the supervision of a delegation from the Ministry of Justice, 11 ISIS terrorists were hanged in Shahr al-Nasiriya prison.
A local health source also confirmed that the provincial health department has discovered the bodies of 11 people.
This source said that these individuals were hanged based on Article IV of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The executed people were residents of Salahuddin Province and the bodies of seven executed people have been handed over to their families.
In recent years, Iraqi courts have issued death sentences and life imprisonment to people convicted of membership in terrorist organizations.
Human rights groups have said that the Iraqi courts act hastily and in some cases the accused will be forced to confess.
Amnesty International today condemned the execution of 11 people in Iraq and said that the accusations of terrorist acts were “broad and vague”.
