Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi claimed that the large-scale missile attack against Israel was an exercise of the ‘right to self-defense’.
According to Reuters, Minister Arakchi told X on the 2nd (local time) that Iran’s retaliatory measures will end “if the Israeli regime does not invite additional retaliation.”
The Iranian military also warned against any direct military intervention in support of Israel.
“If a country supporting (Israel) directly intervenes… centers and interest groups in the region will also face strong attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s armed forces,” the Iranian military said in a statement, quoted by AFP as Iran’s semi-official Far East news agency. It was reported citing the news agency.
Iran launched a large-scale missile attack against Israel the day before. It has been about two months since Ismail Haniyeh, the top political leader of the Palestinian armed faction Hamas, was assassinated at his residence in Tehran, the capital of Iran, on July 31.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden is said to have been closely watching the situation at the White House.
