iPhone completely different: I bet Apple lacks the courage

Referreport

The basic idea of an iPhone hasn’t changed for many years – Apple is following the same path and not taking any risks. The “iPro” concept, on the other hand, reveals a completely different and rather obscure path. What makes it so different and why will Apple probably never implement it?

Large touchscreen, flat design… there’s not much more to a smartphone than that. We look in vain for experimental forms. If we’re honest, the times before Apple phones were perhaps not necessarily better, but they were certainly more varied. 3D artist Taiseer Zarruk presents a possible way out of the dilemma of persistent boredom.

3-in-1 smartphone: iPhone, action cam and even an AirPods charging case

At his “iPro” is actually a concept for an action camera from Apple. You could have guessed from the name – iPro, GoPro … ring a bell? But if you look at it properly and think a little further, Zarruk shows us the idiosyncratic approach to a folding phone from Apple (Source: Taiseer Zarruk).

Take the footprint and the look of the camera bump from the iPhone 13 Pro, make a charging case for the “AirPods Pro mini” and put a small touchscreen on the back. Et voil: You get Not only an action camera, but also the smallest iPhone in the world, which is foldable and can quickly charge AirPods. You have to be someone who comes up with something like that?!

Let’s not kid ourselves, this concept has no chance of being implemented by Apple. However, it shows in direct contrast the lack of ideas in the smartphone industry. Basically, there is always the same thing, just a little better. Nobody has any intention of actually changing anything. Somehow sad, the courage is missing.

Apple’s customers don’t actually want any change

As a 3D artist, this can of course be done quickly, but a manufacturer like Apple has a harder time doing so. There is probably a good reason why Apple doesn’t dare to do this, because even more conservative, slightly modified approaches are punished. The best example is the iPhone mini. It was only introduced in 2020 with the iPhone 12 mini, was not wanted by customers and was thus “burned” for the future. From what is known, the iPhone 13 mini will probably be the last of its kind. Incidentally, it is also the iPhone that initially had almost no delivery problems. Demand must be correspondingly low.

Samsung is a bit more experimental, sometimes folding and folding, as seen in the video:

Ergo: The Customers probably don’t want a “different” iPhone. As brilliant as the idea of such a “jack of all trades” may be, people are not ready for it yet. That’s why the idea remains and Apple doesn’t have to take any risks.
