iPhone 15: This is how Apple wants to prevent the worst

Referreport

Apple’s Vision Pro may be the future, but the manufacturer’s most important product is still the iPhone. As expected, the changing of the guard with the new iPhone 15 is scheduled for September. To ensure that there are no problems with the market launch as in the past, Apple is now taking appropriate measures.

What could be worse? Apple introduces a new iPhone, everyone wants it and the manufacturer can’t deliver for months. Last year, those interested in an iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max in particular had to be patient. This picture should not be repeated when the iPhone 15 is launched this year.

Apple increases production of the iPhone 15

According to a current report, Apple is planning to sell significantly more units of the iPhone 15 and 2023 adjusts production accordingly. 89 million iPhone 15 units are expected to be produced by the end of the year. In the previous year, however, there were only 78 million cell phones for the iPhone 14 (source: ITHome).

In order to prevent corresponding production problems, Apple should Manufacturing also strengthens splits. Foxconn will therefore only take over between 55 and 60 percent of the units, the rest will be distributed among other contract manufacturers. Stocks of the iPhone 15 will also be created in July to ensure that a sufficiently large number of new iPhones are available at market launch.

The new iOS 17 will be preinstalled on the iPhone 15:

Clear indication: Apple is buying more displays

This is already indicated by corresponding display orders. Accordingly, Apple should in June 2023 double the number of screens ordered for the new smartphones than they did for the iPhone 14 a year earlier.

The The lion’s share (58 percent) also falls on the Pro models of the iPhone 15. The year before it was only 43 percent for the top models, one reason for the subsequent delivery problems. Things shouldn’t get that far in 2023.

It remains questionable, of course, whether all these efforts will be enough to meet the expected high demand. Apple and the industry are based on a so-called “Super Cycle” i.e. a product generation in which a particularly large number of old and new customers will buy and ultimately buy. If demand is again higher than the production quantity, customers will have to be prepared for waiting times again.
