The post on Kerala Tourism’s Instagram page was captioned ‘Athirapilli, Kerala’s biggest waterfall in the Netflix movie Uglies’.
This post has already been seen by lakhs of people. This video has received many lovely comments. Most people comment that whoever is managing the page is brilliant. Meanwhile, many people who saw the film felt that the waterfall looked like Athirapilli, but were not so sure. In any case, the people who have seen the film and those who are going to see it are doubly happy after Kerala Tourism clarified this on its Instagram page.
∙ Athirapilli Waterfall
With a height of over 80 feet, Athirapilli Falls is the tallest waterfall in Kerala. Athirapilli Falls has a name as ‘Niagara of South India’. Athirapilli Falls is situated on the Chalakudy river which originates from the Western Ghats.
This waterfall is located in Athirapilli Panchayat, Chalakudy Taluk, Thrissur District. Many tourists from inside and outside Kerala come here every year. Athirapilli Falls is located at the entrance of the Sholayar forest area. Vazhachal Falls is located about five kilometers from Athirapilli Falls.
In any case, the tourist movie buffs are happy that the beauty of Athirappily Falls has reached the international level. Ugly is an American science fiction drama film directed by Joseph McGinty Niccol, also known as McG. The film is based on Scott Westerfeld’s novel Uglys.
Athirapilli waterfall has been depicted in movies before. Athirapilli Falls has already been featured in several movies including Prabhas starrer ‘Baahubali’, last year’s Rajinikanth starrer ‘Jailor’ and Mammootty’s ‘Bhramayugam’. Meanwhile, it is not clear whether the scenes of Athirappily in ‘Agliese’ were shot here or the footage was used.
