Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, if he is now in prison, has vowed that he will be brought to court if the former ambassador of the United States Embassy in Pakistan reveals government secrets during his trial.

Imran Khan said on Monday, December 4 (13) during a court session held in a prison near Islamabad: “I (in my case) will include General Bajwa and the officials of the United States Embassy as witnesses. “Bajwa will do everything under the guidance of Donald Lowe.”

The trial of Imran Khan is taking place inside the prison because of what the Pakistani authorities call “serious security risks”. During the trial of Imran Khan on Monday, the prison authorities allowed six local media reporters to attend and report, but no foreign media was allowed.

Defense lawyer Imran Khan said that if the petitioner is formally presented to the court, Bajwa and a representative of the United States Embassy in Pakistan will be summoned during the trial.

Intizar Hussain Panjuta, a member of Imran Khan’s legal team, said that “only one group of election journalists” was allowed to attend the “open court meeting” for coverage. He condemned the authorities for not allowing journalists from foreign media, including the Voice of America and the BBC.

“By any legal definition, this is not an open court. We do not believe that under the circumstances, a fair trial will take place,” Panjuta told Voice of America.

Alleged Disclosure “Secrets of the Secret State”

Imran Khan, 71, claimed in March 2022 that the United States had colluded with Pakistan’s powerful military to oust him. And it is accused that for personal political gain, he violated the law on protection of privacy and secrets of the official Kishor and disclosed the confidential conversations of Pakistan’s ambassador to America.

According to Imran Khan, Donald Lowe, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, asked Asad Majeed Khan, former Pakistani ambassador to Washington, to tell the military leadership of Pakistan if Imran Khan should be removed from the parliament through a vote of no confidence. Yes, because the former prime minister has adopted neutrality regarding the Russian military attack on Ukraine.

When Russia launched a full-scale military attack on Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Imran Khan went to Moscow on an official visit and met with Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia.

Imran Khan has been citing this conversation for a long time as proof of his claim that the vote of no confidence in Pakistan’s parliament and his removal from power was the result of the involvement of the United States in Pakistan’s politics.

For the first time, the United States Intercept published a text that purported to be a conversation between Donald Lowe and Asad Majid Khan, and this letter was written by Majid Khan. In this text, it is claimed that Donald had threatened that if Imran Khan remains in power in Pakistan, the United States will isolate the country in the international arena.

After these claims of Imran Khan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United States said that Washington had no involvement in his removal from power despite his opposition to Safar Khan’s visit to Russia. The Pakistan Army has also denied Imran Khan’s claims and said that he had no role in removing him from power.

At the beginning of August, Imran Khan was accused of selling government gifts during his presidency in the years 2018 to 2022.

The next meeting and probably the final trial of Imran Khan will be held on December 12.
