FCN striker Mahir Emreli can train with the FCN team for the first time after an ankle injury – at least partially. Miroslav Klose has been waiting for this for a long time.
Storm hopeful Mahir Emreli has made progress with his comeback at 1. FC Nuremberg. The Azerbaijani national striker has at least partially returned to team training. Emreli completed the warm-up in full, and in the subsequent match he was “part of the game as a joker”, according to the Franconian second division football club.
Coach Miroslav Klose is pleased with the progress of the 27-year-old, who was recently hampered by an ankle injury. “I am very pleased that Mahir is now taking part in parts of the team training,” said the 2014 world champion.
A participation in the friendly against Aue comes too early for Emreli
Enrico Valentini, Jannik Hofmann and Janni Serra were also back on the pitch with the team. According to the club, they also took part in a large part of the morning session. Benjamin Goller is even back in full team training.

“Benni Goller is now fully integrated. He also fell in training, rolled over and didn’t think about it at all. That’s a great sign,” said Klose. Goller is expected to play in the friendly against FC Erzgebirge Aue on Thursday (5 September 2024) at 2 p.m., but that would still be too early for Emreli.
The Franconians signed the striker at the beginning of August. He was most recently under contract with Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia. Emreli has so far played 48 international matches for Azerbaijan. 1. FC Nuremberg’s 2nd Bundesliga campaign continues on September 14th after the international break against newly promoted SSV Ulm. The club is currently in 13th place in the 2nd league table. After the defeat against Magdeburg, Klose had particularly criticized his team’s tackling and intensity.
