How to make dirty jokes stylish
–Some people may have the image of WAHAHA Honpo as an extreme comedy group that does a lot of dirty jokes and nude acts, but is that really what it is?
EatEven though it was a dirty joke, I kept thinking about how to make it stylish. In the early days of WAHAHA, I created a skit called “Poop Fairy.” I attached wings to a fake poop and came up with the idea of it flying around with a flapping sound.
–It feels a bit surreal.
EatThat’s right. Basically, the dirty jokes were dirty jokes, but they weren’t just vulgar.
HisamotoYou really need ideas. Just showing naked bodies is boring without ideas. Kuu-san’s concept is to make things stylish by changing the way they are presented.
EatA long time ago, we did a play about the Little Match Girl, in which all the characters were insects. When Hisamoto played the role of the Little Match Girl caterpillar and asked, “Would you like some matches?”, a praying mantis and a dung beetle would come, creating a surreal and creepy worldview.
“The Little Match Girl” became a series, and in one episode we did “The Little Match Girl’s Poop.” There are all kinds of poops, like dirty poop, old feces, and barium (laughs).
HisamotoOh no, there’s a lot of poop! It’s not just poop that we do.
–(lol).
HisamotoFor example, there was a skit called “two people dancing together.” You think one person is dancing, but when you turn around, you see that it’s actually two people dancing together. We did some cool things like that.
