Under the sponsorship of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, the support in organizing the work of the Vietnamese Association in Leipzig city and dozens of Vietnamese organizations and associations in Germany, the event took place successfully, attracting the participation of more than 1,000 people, including representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, Leipzig city government, many German friends and Vietnamese associations in all regions of Germany as well as some neighboring countries.

According to the VNA correspondent in Germany, in his opening speech at the event, Mr. Do Mai Dang, Chairman of the Vinh Phu Association in Germany, highlighted the great significance of organizing the Hung Kings’ death anniversary. He emphasized that the Hung Kings’ death anniversary has become a symbol of spiritual culture, a gathering point for the spirit of national unity, an occasion for children of Lac Hong bloodline, no matter where they live, to always turn to their roots with infinite respect, to show gratitude to their ancestors, and to remember the Hung Kings who built the country. The Vietnamese community in Germany continues to preserve and promote this precious tradition to educate the younger generation, to preserve and spread the Vietnamese spirit in their second homeland.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu ​​Quang Minh expressed his emotion when many people from all over Germany and some neighboring countries, along with representatives of Leipzig city authorities and German friends attended the Hung Kings’ death anniversary. The Ambassador affirmed that this is a very sacred day when Vietnamese people with Lac Hong bloodline, no matter where they are studying, working and living, always turn to their homeland and their national roots. Through the event, the Ambassador hopes that the Vietnamese community will unite more, continue to preserve precious traditions, always remember their roots and vow to do their best to honor their race.

On this occasion, Ambassador Vu Quang Minh also said that the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Germany is developing very well, in which the Vietnamese community living in Germany has made important contributions, creating a solid foundation for the solidarity, friendship and close relationship between the two countries and two peoples. The Ambassador also expressed his gratitude to the Leipzig city government for always supporting and creating conditions for the Vietnamese community in Leipzig to integrate and develop well into the local society.

On behalf of the city government, Dr. Gabriele Goldfuß, Director of the Leipzig City Department of Foreign Affairs, expressed her strong impression of attending the important holiday of the Vietnamese community in Germany. She thanked the Organizing Committee, individuals and Vietnamese associations from all over Germany and neighboring countries for coming to Leipzig – a hospitable and ethnically diverse city – to preserve national cultural traditions and organize special events such as the Hung Kings’ death anniversary. The head of the Leipzig International Cooperation Department also highly appreciated the continuous contribution of the Vietnamese community to the overall development of the city, especially the support of the Vietnamese community during the time when the COVID-19 pandemic was raging in Germany.

On this occasion, Ms. Goldfuß sent her best wishes to the Vietnamese people and wished for the increasingly strong friendship between the two twin cities of Leipzig-Ho Chi Minh City as well as between Germany and Vietnam.

Sharing with VNA reporters, Mr. Do Mai Dang assessed that the Hung Kings’ death anniversary was very successful, with the voluntary response and enthusiastic participation of most associations in Germany as well as some European countries. According to her, the Hung Kings’ death anniversary is also an opportunity to educate generations of Vietnamese children born and raised in Germany to understand more about the heroic history of their ancestors, so that they will never forget their roots.

Mr. Nico Schröder, a German friend from Berlin, took the bus early to Leipzig to attend the event. Mr. Nico was very impressed and appreciated the Vietnamese community in Germany for always preserving and developing traditional cultural beauty abroad, while spreading good values ​​to German and international friends.
