Amnesty International said in a new report on Wednesday, December 6 (Linday 15) that Iranian security forces sexually assaulted women and men and used other forms of sexual violence after the September 22nd public demonstrations of last year. were arrested
This international agency said that it has collected documents on 45 cases where protesters were raped or gang raped or other forms of sexual violence were used.
The report said that such incidents happened in more than half of Iran’s provinces and also expressed the fear that such violations have become widespread.
Agnes Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty International, said that the investigation revealed how Iran’s intelligence and security agents used rape and sexual violence to torture, punish, psychologically and physically harass the protesters.
Mrs. Callamard said that she was raped by a prisoner for 12 years.
This agency, which is headquartered in London, says that it shared the results of the report with the Iranian authorities on November 24, but has not heard anything from them so far.
This international agency said that out of 45 documented cases, 16 are rape cases. In these cases, six women, seven men, a fourteen-year-old girl and two boys, aged 17 and 18, were raped.
According to the report, four women and two men were gang-raped by ten Iranian agents.
Amnesty International said that members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps, Basij paramilitary forces, agents of the Ministry of Intelligence and the police have assaulted protesters in prisons.
This report also stated that Iranian security forces used wooden and iron sticks, glass bottles, plastic pipes, fingers or genitals of agents in sexual assaults.
The international agency said it has collected documents on 29 such cases where other forms of sexual violence were used against victims.
Beating prisoners on the breasts and genitals, forced restraints, and inserting needles into men’s testicles or putting ice on them are other incidents of sexual violence mentioned in this report.
The report includes interviews with victims and eyewitnesses through secure remote communication.
Amnesty International said that the victims did not complain because of fear, and those who appealed to the prosecutor’s office, the authorities did not pay attention to them.
