Huawei prevails: China manufacturer celebrates great success

Referreport

Huawei has been under a US ban since 2019, but that hasn’t stopped the Chinese company from becoming truly independent. This now applies in the form of processors and a Chinese 5G modem. In the future, this could also apply to the software. Huawei was able to win many partners for its future without Android.

Huawei can win over 400 companies

The US ban took the wind out of Huawei’s sails a few years ago. The Chinese company was actually well on its way to becoming the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. But then everything changed and Huawei could no longer access US technologies and lost access to important partners.

Four years later, things are now going better again. Huawei can use its Kirin processors and has a 5G modem available. Everything developed in China and protected from US government access. This is exactly what should happen with the software.

Although Huawei uses its own operating system, HarmonyOS, it is still essentially based on Android – and therefore software from Google. HarmonyOS Next is supposed to change that. Android is thrown out and Huawei becomes completely independent. But this only works if many companies and app developers take part. And that’s exactly what happens. Huawei has announced that that 400 partners have started developing native apps for HarmonyOS Next (Source: HuaweiCentral).

In addition, many other developers are said to be working on apps and new products for the non-Android operating system. The big goal behind it is to break Android dominance in China and become even more independent.

This Huawei phone shocked the US government:

Huawei with a focus on China

The plan for independence from US technologies has so far only been limited to China. The Kirin processors, the 5G modem and HarmonyOS Next are used there. In Europe, however, the Android basis remains. Accordingly, cell phones like the Mate 60 Pro don’t even appear with us.
