In Hong Kong, eligible seniors can enjoy a $2 bus fare discount. Neighboring Shenzhen also has a senior citizen fare discount that non-Shenzhen residents can enjoy.

Shenzhen has introduced a discount for senior citizens in recent years. No matter which country or city the traveler is from, as long as he or she is 60 years old or above, he or she can ride the Shenzhen Metro for free (see picture). Hong Kong senior citizens can ride for free by choosing the dedicated channel and showing their Home Return Permit. Hong Kong senior citizens can also ride the bus for free in Shenzhen. As long as the senior citizens read the Shenzhen Elderly Card or Hong Kong and Macau Resident Permit through the card reader on the bus when boarding, they can ride the bus for free.
