The announcement states: “The court declared the marriage of former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, and Bushra Bibi illegal and sentenced each of them to seven years in prison.”
Earlier, Imran Khan and his wife were sentenced to 14 years in prison on January 31 (11 days) in a financial corruption case.
Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been found guilty of corruption. A day before this, Imran Khan was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the case of disclosure of confidential government documents.
At the same time, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Deputy Minister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and former Foreign Minister of Pakistan, has also been sentenced to 10 years in prison in the case of disclosure of confidential government documents. Qureshi is also currently in prison in Adiala prison.
The jail sentence has been issued against Imran Khan and his wife while there are five days left for the general elections in Pakistan and the participation of Hizb Tehreek-e-Insaf led by Imran Khan in these elections is limited.
